Dr. David Beyer, Sr., 95 of Hillsboro passed away Thursday evening, April 12, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Dr. Beyer was laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Arrangements were under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born October 28, 1922 in Portland, OR, he was the son of John Andrew Conrad and Martha Emily (Schulze) Beyer. On September 1, 1945, David was united in marriage to Elaine Janice Miller in St. Paul, MN. The couple lived in many places while David served his country in the United States Air Force. They eventually moved to San Antonio where they raised their four children. He was honorably discharged as a Lt. Col. on June 30, 1966. Later in life, David and Elaine lived in Austin for three years, thirty years in Beaumont, and finally making Hillsboro their home. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Elaine Beyer on April 30, 2004; three sisters, Marie Schmeidel, Ruth Courtney, and Dorothy Nelson; and granddaughter, Sherri Solleder.
Survivors include his three children, Janice C. Solleder of Hillsboro, David H. Beyer, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Hillsboro, Mark Ernest Beyer of Clifton, and Nancy Keene and husband, Gary, of Tomball; sister, Carol Deitrick of Lexington, NC; eight grandchildren, Susan Beyer, Andrew Beyer and wife, Meredith, Ben Beyer and wife, Jenna, John Beyer, Sarah Beyer, Chris Keene and wife, Mandy, Jason Keene and wife, Amy, and Brad Keene and wife, Laura; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
