Biography

Dr. Robert Allen Brock, 79, of Whitney, passed away on July 11, 2016. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on July 30, 2016, at Shady Chapel United Methodist Church, 3810 Hwy 147, Zavalla, TX.

Robert was born on August 1, 1936, in Plainview to Earl and Mable (Bray) Brock. In 1955, he graduated from Dimmit High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years before obtaining his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience (KCCOM) in 1968. He did his internship at Mesa General Hospital in Mesa, Arizona and his surgical residency at Phoenix General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. From 1973-1989, he practiced General surgery in Phoenix before moving to Palestine, Texas where he continued his practice until 1991.

He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Board of Osteopathic Surgeons where he served as an examiner. After retiring from surgery, he spent 11 years with UTMC-TDCJ as the Medical Director of the Northern Region.

It was during this time he was able to pursue his dream of owning and operating a ranch. His cattle were his great love which he enjoyed the rest of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Patricia (Wilson) Brock; son Sean Patrick Brock; his parents; and sister, Mona (Brock) Merritt.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years Nitis (Apple) Brock, children Raymond (Reb) Brock, Shea Brock and Elizabeth, Ramona (Brock) Bean and husband, Matt, Mildred (Childers) Johnson and husband, Robert, Robie Childers, Roger Fahl and wife, Tracey; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
