Dudley Ray May, 75, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2013, at Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating.
Born April 30, 1938 in Bosque County, he was the son of Monte Raymond and Elanora (Wallsmit) May. He was raised in Hill County, attended Hillsboro schools, and in his younger years was the song-leader at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Hillsboro. On July 11, 1979 he married Clovia Strange in Hillsboro. The couple moved to Point Blank in 1986 and then to Steven’s Creek in 1988. In 1991, they move back to Hillsboro.
Dudley worked as a stocker for Hawk and High Grocery in Hillsboro from 1966-1986, Boles Grocery in Onalaska from 1988-1991, and for Country Market in Hillsboro from 1992-1994. In 1994 he went to work at Business Supply Company in Hillsboro as a delivery man and for the past year was the weekend janitor for KHBR and The Reporter.
A faithful and active member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Dudley sang in the choir and served as a Deacon. He enjoyed listening to 50's music and all types of Christian music.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Clovia May, on January 4, 2005; and a sister, Betty Marie May.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles Richard May and George Howard May, both of Hillsboro; cousins, Johnny and Susan May of Waco and Anna Raulston of Blum; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
