Earnestine Shaw

Earnestine Shaw, 95 of Hillsboro, formerly of Whitney, passed away on December 26, 2016 in Hillsboro. A graveside service, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Itasca Cemetery in Itasca. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Earnestine was born on September 3, 1921, in Hillsboro, to John and Eula (Welch) Garner.

On March 29, 1941, she married Woodrow Coutret and he passed away on March 9, l979. On December 26, 1983, she married Dr. Guy Shaw and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2009. She taught cosmetology at Hill Jr. College from 1972-1984 and also owned and operated her own beauty shop in Itasca from 1964-1972. Sewing and reading were two of her favorite pastimes and she was a member of Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Bub Garner and two sisters, Marie Bennett and Martha Davison.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Schneider and husband, Don, Janet Curry and Steve Coutret; step-children, Bob Shaw and wife, Sarah and Guy Shaw, Jr and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Scott Schneider and wife, Elizabeth, Taylor Throckmorton, Katy Throckmorton, Haley Atchison, Ashley Coutret; great-grandchildren, Margot Schneider, Bo Schneider, Autum Throckmorton, Rylie Atchison, and Kennedy Von Elling; step-grandchilren, Stephen Shaw and Adam Shaw.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
