Eddie Ray Schulz

Eddie Ray Schulz, 80, of Malone passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2019, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Pastor Michael Nemec officiating.  Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Malone.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Eddie Ray was born September 22, 1938, in Hill County to Eddie Louis and Delta (Symank) Schulz.  After graduating from Bynum High School, he served his country for two years in the United States Army stationed in Germany.

On May 2, 1959, Eddie Ray was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Fieseler, at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone.  Following their marriage, the young couple moved to Dallas for a time where Eddie Ray was a machinist.  They would eventually move to Duncanville.

Following the death of Eddie Ray’s father in 1967, they moved back to Malone and he began his life long passion of farming. For the next 38 years, he would spend countless hours on the farm working and even travel some with his son and grandson occasionally doing custom farming while on the road.

Eddie Ray always enjoyed a fresh cup of coffee.  You could find him drinking a cup with Sue or at the Malone Co-op, following his retirement from farming in 2005.  He also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and going on cruises, but spending time with his family brought him the greatest joy of all.

He was a current member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and former member of Salem Lutheran Church in Malone.  While a member at Salem Lutheran, Eddie Ray served the congregation in many capacities such as congregational President, financial secretary, and as an elder and trustee.  He was also a former board member of the Farmers Co-op and Gin in Malone and for Farm Bureau.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Jeffrey Lynn Schulz.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Sue Schulz of Malone; son, Todd Schulz and wife, Lana, of Malone; sister, Barbara Markwardt and husband, Larry, of Red Oak; grandchildren, Del Schulz of Malone and Jana Schulz and spouse of Weatherford; great-granddaughter, Jolee Dudik of Hubbard; niece, Shannon Henkel and husband, Todd, of Frost; nephew, Greg Markwardt and wife, Jessica, of Red Oak; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
