Edith Mae Weeks, 82, of Whitney, Texas died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Lake Whitney Medical Center in Whitney. Edith was born July 23, 1923 in Luling, Texas the daughter of Percy Miller and Rosa Ambria Harlan Nance. On July 10, 1946 she married J. P. Weeks and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1979. Edith was a very strong willed person and great listener who loved to do things for her family and others. She enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, cooking, bowling, and playing bingo and cards. Edith loved hanging clothes out on the clothes line. She did lots of volunteer work for Lions Club and the Community Center in Corpus Christi and was of the Baptist faith. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Jay Preston Weeks; two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Patsy Clark; two brothers, Floyd Nance and Leonard Nance; and one grandson, Raymond Matlock. Survivors include her children, Carolyn Matlock of Whitney, Jessie Miller and wife, Nancy, of Corpus Christi, Marilyn Pettitt and husband, John, of San Marcos, CA, Linda Edlin of Oklahoma City, OK, Earl Weeks of Kingsville, and Mickey Weeks and wife, Mitzi, of Lubbock; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Davis of Oklahoma City, OK and Eunice Barta and husband, Frank, of Gonzalez; 11 grandchildren, William Matlock and wife, Janelle, of Levelland, Jeffrey Miller and Jason Miller both of Houston, John Pettitt, Jr. and wife, Allie, of Santa Monica, CA, Courtney Pettitt of San Diego, CA, Patty Edlin of Rivera, TX, Cherilyn Sterling and husband, Jared, of Portland, Sammy Edlin and wife, Brandy, of Pekin, IN, Joseph Weeks of Premont, TX, and Madison Weeks and Morgan Weeks both of Lubbock; and ten great-grandchildren.
