Edith was born in Oklahoma and lived most of her life in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. She was the next to the youngest daughter of Clarence Cleveland Koch and Edith Elizabeth Koch who had seven children, two boys and five girls. In 1965 she and her husband, T.W. (Bud) Wise moved to Albion, Oklahoma where they retired to raise cattle. In 1979 the Wises moved to Henderson, Texas to be closer to their daughters, Shirley Ann Dahl and Joyce Lavonne Booth and the grandchildren. After a prolonged illness, Bud died in 1991 at Henderson, Texas. In 1999 Edith moved to the Clifton, Texas area and lived in Laguna Park until 2006 when she moved closer to her daughter, Joyce, in Whitney, Texas. During this time she had many happy days enjoying her family. She was a member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church for more than twelve years.
Edith and Bud’s children include two daughters, Shirley Ann Dahl and husband, Ralph, of Clifton, Texas and Joyce Lavonne Booth and husband, Eddie, of Whitney. There are six grandchildren including Sheri Lavonne (Booth) Pelham and husband Scott, Belinda Beth (Booth) Thiele and husband John, Paul Marshall Booth and wife Mary, Mark Jarrell Booth and wife Bettina, Chandler Scott Fulton and wife Ashley, and Stephane Ruth Ready. In addition, there are fifteen great-grandchildren: Haley Elizabeth (Pelham) Yarbrough and husband Chance, Hilary Dawn Pelham, Hope Ruthann Pelham, Hayden Scott Pelham, John Waldemar (Trey) Thiele, III, Zachary Paul Thiele, Landan Mark Thiele (deceased), Alina Beth Thiele, Andi Jo Booth, Gehrig Marshall Booth, Mitchell Hansen Booth, Jack Marshall Booth, Marla Brooke Ready, Kayla Grace Ready, Nathan Eli Fulton and Ethan Micah Fulton. Hansen and Jack both attend school in Murphy, Texas. Marla and Kayla Ready reside with their mother in White Oak, Texas and will attend local schools in the fall.
Edith was primarily a housewife and mother, but later in life she worked as a clerk at a magazine circulation facility, as an assistant to local parents, and even cooked for a school when she lived in Albion, Oklahoma. Edith was an intelligent and remarkable woman with much self-determination and direction. She initially learned to drive at age 55 after which she drove anywhere she wanted. She was a nurse to her husband, Bud, who had debilitating heart degeneration for many years and had many health complications. Edith was a competitor and loved a good game of cards or dominoes; however, she liked to be the winner of those games. Edith’s crowning glory was her family, of which she was extremely proud. She loved to be involved in family activities and watch the kids play.
Since Edith’s last few days were spent fighting ovarian cancer, the family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers to honor Edith’s life, be given to a local branch of the American Cancer Society or Prairie Valley Baptist Church.
Edith’s daughters, their husbands, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends will truly miss her love, smile, laugh, strong will, and quick wit.
