Edith Mozelle (Harper) Wooten

Edith Mozelle Wooten, 96, of Hillsboro passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Rev. Ken James officiating.  Mrs. Wooten will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.  Facial masks and social distancing are required.  Funeral services will be live streamed via Marshall & Marshall's Facebook page.

Mozelle was born September 24, 1924, in Hill County to William James Waters and Fleta Jane (Hamilton) Harper.  She grew up in the Vaughan and Mayfield communities in Hill County and attended schools at Mayfield.  On October 28, 1939, Mozelle was united in marriage to L. L. Wooten, Jr. and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1986.

For several years, she was the local agent of the Greyhound Bus Lines in Hillsboro. Mozelle was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro for 75 years, where she attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class and sang with the Homeward Bound Singers. Mozelle enjoyed traveling and taking tours of many places.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Theda Lambert; three sisters, Allene Seldomridge, Leola Tinsley, and Lucille Branscome; one brother, J. D. Harper; and two grandchildren, Donnie Neagle and Ricky Neagle.

Survivors include her three children, Nancy Harris, Lonnie Lee Wooten, III, and Ronnee Neagle; brother, Ralph Harper and wife, Rosemary; 6 grandchildren, Dale Harris and wife, Linda, Sheila Beims, Angela Caldwell and husband, Royden, Nancy Williams and husband, Tim, Ronnie Wooten and wife, Chanti, and Ryan Wooten; several great-grandchildren including, Josh Beims, Gracie Whittington, RayLee Whittington, and Holly Williams, all of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 271, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
