Her parents moved to Bolivar, Texas, where she attended school to the fifth grade. The family later moved to a farm near Bardwell, Texas, and Edna attended school there to 1941. Her parents later bought a farm at Milford, Texas, where she went to high school and graduated. She played softball, basketball, and volleyball. If there had been a girl’s football team, her father would have wanted her to play football.
After graduating high school, Edna moved to Raymondville, Texas. Her first job was at a Five and Dime Store and she later went to work at the Texas Theater as ticket and candy salesgirl. She worked her way to the jewelry store as sales lady and later was employed with First National Bank and stayed until April 1950.
Edna met her husband, Roy Crumpton, at Milford High School and they married April 15, 1950. Edna and Roy moved to Hillsboro in 1954 with their children (Larry, Sherrie, and Ralph).
Edna was a member of Central Baptist Church. She loved singing and taking trips with the Church, playing games, working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved sewing and embroidering.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, on May 22, 1987; her parents; four brothers; seven sisters; and daughter-in-law, Joyce Crumpton. She is survived by her children, Larry Crumpton and wife, Pam, Ralph Crumpton, and Sherrie Ripley and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Jerrod Crumpton, Joanna Crumpton, Jacob Crumpton, Jamie Jaska, Joshua Crumpton, Kara Ripley, and Kevin Ripley; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
