Edna E. Orr, age 100, of Hillsboro, a homemaker and civic leader, died in her home Friday, June 20, 2014. The family welcomes all of Edna’s friends and extended family to a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, 2495 Corsicana Hwy. A private family funeral and interment will be held later.

Mrs. Orr was born September 10, 1913, in the Honey Flat community of Hill County and spent her early years in the Loveview community. She attended Hillsboro schools and Hill Junior College. She married Seth Orr in 1936 in Hillsboro, with the family residing on “The Mountain”. The Orr family moved to Hillsboro in 1950 where they designed and built their home at 1101 E. Walnut St. in 1957. Mrs. Orr proved herself as a caring public servant from the forties, when she helped serve food to troops as the trains stopped in Hillsboro, to her 2013 appointment as Consultant to the Hill County Historical Commission. Her vast contributions to her community include PTA President, a member of the Library and Cemetery Board, Les Causeuses Club, Garden Club, Philotechnos Club, Texas Federated Women’s Club, Bonds Alley Committee, Hill County Cell Block Museum, Hill County Centennial and Bicentennial and the 160th anniversary of the creation of Hill County and the founding of the City of Hillsboro. Mrs. Orr was a member of the College Hill Church of Christ.

Mr. Orr passed away September 6, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Beatrice Corbin, brothers and sisters, Reda Irvin, Ann Cox, Montrue Doty, Marie Ramsey, Billy Frank Irvin and Ross Irvin; brothers-in-law, Glen Doty and Wayne Ramsey.

She is survived by her only son, William Gwynn Orr and wife, Sandra of Hillsboro; grandson, Will S. Orr and wife, Angelia, great grandson, Samuel and great granddaughter, Emma, all of Itasca; granddaughter, Leslie C. Denby and husband, Randy, great grandsons, Jakobe and Rylan, all of Burleson; grandson, Cutter C. Orr and wife, Nancy, great granddaughter, Allyson and great grandson, Kyler, all of Burleson; granddaughter, Julie Mack and husband, Todd , great granddaughter, Ferrell, all of Bryan; grandson, Bryan Rich of Burleson; brothers and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Irvin of San Angelo, Mrs. Mary Lou Irvin of Granbury, Mrs. Yvonne Lawrence of Dallas, and Miss Dell Irvin of Hillsboro; many nieces and nephews.
