Biography

Edna Dee Riddle Ray, 77, of Whitney passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, in Whitney. Funeral services will be held at Noon Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Billy D. Webb and Jay Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery near Whitney. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to Noon Wednesday prior to service time at the funeral home.

Edna was born February 16, 1936 the 5th of eight children to George Albert and Minnie Ethel Riddle in McAlester, Oklahoma. On November 21, 1953, she married Edward Ray. Although Edna and Edward had no children of their own, the Lord blessed them with children to raise. They helped raise all of their nieces and nephews, of which there are too many to count. They took James Michael Ray at birth and raised him as their own child and his son, Michael Dwayne Ray. Ed and Edna opened their home and heart to all the family and friends. She was a member of the American Legion Post #522 and a member of the Open Range Cowboy Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Ray of Whitney; son, James Michael Ray and wife, Sandra, of Blum; step-brother, Joe Allen; step-sisters, Lorene Hughes and Mattie Alison; grandson, Michael Dwayne Ray and wife, Melissa, of Blum; and a great-grandson, Easton Ray of Blum.
