Edrie Boyd

Edrie Florene Judy Boyd passed away on November 4, 2007 in Hillsboro. She was the daughter of Samuel Adolphus and Bertha Truitt Gilley. She attended Whitney school graduating as the valedictorian of her class in 1933. She then attended Hillsboro Junior College and later entered Baylor Hospital School of Nursing receiving her Registered Nurses Certificate in 1938. She worked in various fields of the nursing profession; first in private duty, then as a First Aid Nurse on the Whitney Dam Project, and later at the Whitney Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Baptist Church at the time of her death. Preceding her in death were her parents and former husband, Bradford M. Boyd. Survivors include her son, James Kenneth Boyd and Margaret Petter of Whitney; two sisters, Anna Belle Billie Rhodes of Clifton, Barbara Sue Barnett, one brother-in-law, Leonard C. Barnett both of Whitney; two nephews, Ken Barnett of Plano and Craig Barnett of Humble, and the families of Jack and Patricia Basham and Bobby and Susan Swilling all of Whitney.
