Edward Armel Armstrong 85 of Whitney passed away at his residence on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Pastor Phillip Wottrich officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Edward was born on July 7, 1937, in Indianapolis to Armel and Catherine Armstrong. He lived in Massachusetts and while there he worked for the Bellingham Police Department and later went to work for the fire department where he continued to work for many years. He worked full time at General Motors in Framingham until retiring, in their later years they decided to move to Texas. They settled in Whitney, enjoying being near the lake. Edward joined the Whitney Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and later trained to be a Fire Inspector. He loved being part of the Whitney Fire Department family, even when he was physically unable to do the job anymore his fellow firefighters always included him in events they never forgot.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 50, years Mary Armstrong; his father, Armel Armstrong who passed away on Edwards birthday; mother, Catherine Armstrong; brothers, Bill and Leon; great-great grandchild, Jackson, 2years old, Survivors include his daughters, Linda M. and Barbara B; grandchildren, Donnie B, Timothy M. David M.; great-great-grandchildren, Venna B. Evelynn B. Maykayla M. and Tristan M.
