Edwin Kucera

Edwin Joe Kucera, 84, of Malone passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone with Rev. James Heiser officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Malone. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Edwin was born on December 15, 1930 to William and Sophie (Adams) Kucera. He grew up in Penelope and attended school there. On February 9, 1952, Edwin was united in marriage to Margie Lentz. He worked at the gin in Penelope before being employed with General Motors for 33 years. Following his retirement from GM in 1987, he stayed busy helping on the farm and doing sheet metal work. In his spare time, he liked to play dominos, cards, watch the Dallas Cowboys, go polka dancing, and work on cars. Edwin was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church in Malone, where he served as an elder.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Kenneth Kucera; and son-in-law, Gary Baird.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Margie Kucera of Malone; five daughters, Pauline Wines and husband, Kirk, of West, Joyce Crumpton and husband, Ralph, of Hillsboro, Teresa Baird of Brandon, Nancy Krueger and husband, Eddie, of Bynum, and Karen Picha and husband, Greg, of West; daughter-in-law, Anissa Kucera, of West; siblings, Leona Kadlubar and husband, Joe, of Elm Mott, Billy Kucera and wife, Louise, of Sunnyvale and Rosie Atkins of Waco; 11 grandchildren, Bradley Wines and wife, Sarah, Pamela Hilpert and husband, Bryan, Jamie Jaska and husband, John, Joshua Crumpton, Timothy Kucera and wife, Tina, Dana Miller and husband, David, Heather Krueger, Heath Krueger, Justin Picha, Aynslee Kucera, and Kenslee Kucera; and 9 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brianna, Ruby, Jaxon, Jadyn, Maddison, Macen, Tristan, and David J.; and several nieces and one nephew.
