Efren Flores Martinez, 76, of Grandview passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Chambers Creek Baptist Church in Grandview with Pastor Michael Lehnhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Efren was born July 7, 1946, in La Joya, Texas, to Isabel and Crisanta (Flores) Martinez. He grew up in Sullivan City and eventually settled in Grandview. Efren worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a laborer, was employed by Precinct 4 in Johnson County, and then at GTI Trucking Company.
Efren was united in marriage to Dominga Rios and she preceded him in death on October 20, 1995. He was a member of Chambers Creek Baptist Church in Grandview. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to flea markets, gardening, and making BBQ, especially briskets.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Stephanie Martinez; and nine siblings.
Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia Escobedo and husband, Mariano, Yolanda Tapia and husband, Vicente, and Rosie Martinez and partner, Cindy Martinez; 13 grandchildren, Frank Gonzalez, Sergio Gonzalez, Aron Escobedo, Adan Escobedo, Samantha Hidalgo, Susy Tapia, Gabriella Tapia, Vicente Tapia, Jr., Angelika Leal, Jordan Varela, Nathaniel Vargas, Mia Pena, and Inacio Pena, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
