Ela Mae Ward, age 81, of Fort Worth, passed away on November 24, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, November 26 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 2127 Skyline Dr. in Ft. Worth, Texas with Mr. Matthew Reagles officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00am Wednesday, November 27 at Whitney Memorial Park Cemetery in Whitney.
Ela was born on September 4, 1932, in Mertens, Texas, to Elward and Fannie ( Tanner ) Cunningham. Ela grew up in the Lake Whitney area. She married J. F. Ward on June 1, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2004. She worked as an L.V.N. at hospitals and nursing homes in Whitney and Fort Worth. She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden as well as taking care of animals and children. Ela was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Preceding her in death were a son, Elton Ward; grandson, Jerrimy Hudson ; granddaughter, Donna Shipe and nine siblings.
Survivors include; son, James Ward and wife, Janet of Everman; daughters, Carolyn Gee of Weatherford, Martha Ray of Burleson; son, Thomas Ward and wife, Kay of Burleson; brother, Trent Cunningham and wife, Ann of Gun Barrel City; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
