Ella Mae Stoker, 89, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Homestead Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Ella was born June 7, 1920 in Bell County, Texas, where she lived through her teenage years, the daughter of Robert and Eliza Barrington McGaugh. On March 12, 1940 she married Allen Stoker in Italy, TX and he preceded her in death on August 13, 2007. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Mertens. For a number of years, she worked as a seamstress at J. M. Wood Manufacturing in Hillsboro. She was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, and three brothers. Survivors include two sons, James Allen Stoker and wife, Glenda, of Abilene and Larry Stoker and wife, Carolyn, of Mertens; three sisters, Vera Adkins of Waco and Ola Livingston and Nora Pennington both of Dallas; a niece whom she raised, Viola May of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Candace Evans, Lynette Findley, Kelli Wilcox, Lauren Stoker, and Kevin Stoker; and six great-grandchildren.
