Ellis Akin

Ellis Akin, 70, of Whitney, passed away at his residence on January 18, 2006. He was the son of Lee Morris and Lena Leola Harvey Akin. He served in the U. S. Air Force. On September 10, 1960, he married Jannette Hughes in Red Water, TX. Ellis became a Teamster Local 568 and Local 968 and was a truck driver for many years. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, four brothers and grandson, Micheal Jarred Akin. Survivors include his wife, Janette of Whitney; children, Morris Akin of Whitney, Janna Harvey and husband, Mike of Whitney, Joy Smith and husband, Curt of Keithville, LA., David Akin and wife, Rhonda of Coppell; sisters, Leola Akin of Texarkana, AR., Lila Stroup of Texarkana, AR.; grandchildren, Arielle Akin, Brelan Akin, Garrett Harvey, Matthew Harvey, Kirsten Smith, Joel Smith, Julia Akin, Jacob Akin; several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
