Elmer Waits

Elmer Ray E.R. Waits, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, in Fort Worth. E.R. was born July 19, 1930, in Trenton, Texas, to Limmie and Alice Waits. He served as a Deacon with First Baptist Church, Whitney, and previously at First Baptist Church of Hurst. A 32nd Degree Master Mason, he received his 50-year Masonic pin in 2009. He retired from General Motors Arlington plant after 33 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing expeditions with family and friends, as well as gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lester Waits; an infant sister, Vera Fay; as well as a stepson Otis Smith III. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Audrey Waits; and three daughters?Linda Sue and Teddy Kamau, Marsha and Stan Dickerson, Patricia and Jeff Maddux; and four step-children?Linda Nelson; Steve and Vicki Smith; Patrick Smith; and Phillip and Patsy Smith; four grandsons; ten step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers?W.W. Waits and wife Ruth; and Wilburn Will Waits and wife Juanita; as well as a wealth of family and friends.
