Elsa Blair

Elsa Blair, 81, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Donna Ware officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the funeral home.

Elsa was born September 8, 1930 in Sulphur Springs to Benjamin Franklin and Mural Elizabeth (Mitchell) Tatom. She grew up in Sulphur Springs and graduated from high school there. On December 3, 1949 she married Charles Blair. She worked for the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Department of Transportation.

She later went on to receive her Bachelor and Master Degrees from Baylor University in Education. During her 25 year career at Hillsboro High School, she taught Business classes, Health, P.E., and coached Volleyball. She and Charles traveled extensively after her retirement in 1994.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Delta Kappa Gamma, and North Texas Airstream Community.

Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant brother; and a brother-in-law, George Metcalf in 2007.

Survivors include her husband Charles Blair of Hillsboro; son, Chuck Blair and wife, Becky, of Hillsboro; four sisters, Rita McClennahan and husband, Lee, of Incline Village, NV, Suzy Moore and husband, Nick, of Tyler, Paula Metcalf of Grapevine, and Pam Baker and husband, Bobby, of Chandler; three grandchildren, Clint Blair and wife, Brandy, Grant Blair, and Kate Blair; one great-grandson, Aidan; and several nieces and nephews.
