Elvin A. Meeks, 80, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Pastor Stephen Burnett of Lakenon Baptist Chruch officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Elvin was born December 27, 1932 in Abbott to George A. and Myrtle (West) Meeks. A 1954 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. On February 19, 1956, he married Glenda McClure. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation as Hill County Supervisor. He also worked as a mechanic and rancher for many years. Elvin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro and Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #196 A.F. & A.M.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Frances Sawyer; and two brothers, Tommy Meeks and Monro Meeks.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Meeks of Hillsboro; four children, Jan Machac and husband, Thomas, of Bynum, Diana Lee and husband, Pat, of Llano, and Londa Beard and husband, Tom, and Tim Meeks, all of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren, David, Jake, Carson, Paul, Chris, Joe, Samantha, Brittany, and Haylee; two great-grandchildren, Listen and Latham and a great-granddaughter on the way; sister-in-law, Betty Meeks; and brother-in-law, John McClure and wife, Vi.
