Emily Hudson, 90, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at Emery J. Lilge Hospice House in Burleson. Emily Hudson was born January 26, 1915 in Hillsboro, Texas the daughter of C. C. and Callie McFadden Isbell. She attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Hillsboro. In 1933 she graduated from Hillsboro High School, from Hill College in 1935, and from College of Industrial Arts now Texas Woman?s University, Denton in 1937. On August 31, 1941 she married James C. Hudson, Jr. in Waco, Texas and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1985. Her teaching career spanned 38 years. She taught not only in Aquilla and London, Texas, but also in West, Vaughan, Abbott, and the last 14 years in Hillsboro, before she retired in 1984. Emily has been active in her community all of her life. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 769 and served in many capacities as well as Worthy Matron. She held many offices in the Texas Federation of Women?s Clubs, and the Monday Review Club. She was also active in the Retired Teachers Association. As one deeply committed to education, Emily maintained membership in the Hill County Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for 43 years, working to raise scholarships for students to attend college. Even after she retired from teaching, Emily served several years on the Hillsboro School Board and the Grant-Buie Hospital Board. Central Christian Church has always been near and dear to her heart. She grew up in the church, and through the years she has held many different positions, as well as being a Deacon and an Elder. She taught Sunday School for years and led the Mary Martha Circle of the Christian Women?s Fellowship. While her hobbies over the years have included sewing, cooking, traveling, and china painting, Miss Emily is best known for her love of teaching and that love is evident in over three generations of students. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Paul Isbell, C. C. Isbell, Happy Isbell, and Frank Isbell. Survivors include her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: James and Sharon Hudson, their son, Jeremy Hudson and daughter-in-law, Amy, and their children, Grant and Molly. Their daughter, Christi Beck and son-in-law, John, and their children, Matthew and Allison. John and Samantha Hudson, their daughter Vicki Reese and son-in-law, Rick, and their children, C. J. and Matthew Hajek. Son, Rick Martin and daughter-in-law, Lisa, and their children, Ethan and Erin. Daughter, Tracy Bennett and son-in-law, Larry. Jerry and Cindy Hudson, their daughter, Jessica Peeples and son-in-law, Rocky, and their children, Cierra, Joshua, and Cheyenne. Their son, Roy Hudson, and daughter, Emily Hudson. Two brothers, Sam Isbell of Terrell, Texas and Jerry Isbell of Winter Park, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
