Emma Jane (Crowe) Garrison

Emma Jane (Crowe) Garrison, 96, of Granbury, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Quail Park Retirement Village in Granbury. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Nancy Schusler and Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro, Texas next to her husband, George Garrison. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 on Saturday, February 22, at the funeral home.

Emma Jane was born August 4, 1923, in Brandon, Texas, to Eva Esther (Gibson) and Charles Nathan Crowe. She graduated at the top of her class from Hillsboro High School and Valedictorian of Hill College. She was employed many years at Independent Oil Company with her father, Charlie, and finished her career as office manager for 40 years at the Federal Land Bank of Texas. She loved to travel and was ready to go any where when anyone asked, taking her last trip to Branson at 91 with her adored cousins and traveling buddies.

On June 6, 1946, in Hillsboro, she married George Clifford Garrison, a handsome, motorcycling young man, after he returned from World War ll. They raised three children, Jan, Mike, and Becky. She was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro until 2011, when she and George moved to Quail Park Retirement Village in Granbury.

Emma Jane was a wonderful Christian mother, loving grandmother to Kenda, Mikka, and Bryn, and adoring great-grandmother to Judd, Colton, Garrison, Sebastian, Ella, and Harper. She had high moral values and an enduring love for her Lord that she shared with everyone she met with a quiet grace by the way she lived. She led by example. She was adored by everyone where she worked, at her church, at Quail Park, and by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many cousins, aunties, extended family and friends.

Our family will feel her tender care from now on as a warm serenity in our hearts. She was our loving encourager to be better and to do better in our daily lives. We will all hold in memory all the happy times spent together. We are rejoicing that our beautiful mother is with her Lord and we will all be united again someday. She left so many beautiful memories for all of us.

Preceding her in death were her loving parents; her precious brother, Sonny; her strong husband; her beloved daughter, Becky Curtis; and many aunties, cousins, and grandparents.

Survivors include her children, Jan Canup of Hico and Mike Garrison and wife, Sharon, of Athens; three granddaughters, Kenda Kennedy and husband, Jeff, of Keller, Mikka Bach and husband, J.P., of Fredericksburg, and Bryn Curtis and husband, John, of Cypress; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 673, Hillsboro, TX 76645 or to the American Cancer Society, 1512 Lake Air Drive, Waco, TX 76710.
