Emma Lee Kaddatz, 79, of Hillsboro passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2020, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Pastor Michael Nemec officiating. The funeral service will be streamed live on the church’s Facebook page for those who are unable to attend. Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery near Malone. Mrs. Kaddatz will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Emma Lee was born on December 4, 1940, in Bynum to Herman Robert “Ham” and Marie Gertrude (Lentz) Piel. She was baptized on January 12, 1941 and later confirmed on May 29, 1955. Her confirmation verse was John 15:5. She was a 1959 graduate of Bynum High School.
On October 4, 1959, Emma Lee married the love of her life, Leonard Kaddatz, in Malone. She took great care of Leonard until his passing on March 28, 2011.
Through the years, Emma Lee was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Robert Vorderlandwehr, Dr. Charles Hamilton, and Dr. Keith Chiles. A faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, Emma Lee was a great encourager in her faith to many in her church family and others. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Martha Kaddatz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Beverly Kaddatz; and brother-in-law, James Hocker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kim Wise and husband, T. J., of Brock; sister, Vera Hocker of Bynum; grandchildren, Hadley and Emery Leech both of Brock, Chelce Kidwell and husband, Brad, and their children, Hunter and Brynlee, all of Weatherford, and Haven and Darbie Wise, both of Brock; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Sue Kaddatz, of Hillsboro; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
