Emmett was born on February 21, 1925 in Hemphill, TX to Edgar Morris Gentry and Mary Walton Blankenship. He was a graduate of East Texas State Teachers College, Commerce, TX now Texas A&M Commerce with a BBA degree and the University of Houston, Houston, TX with a MBA. He served in the US Army during WW II in the Southwest Pacific with the 32nd Infantry Division. Emmett co-founded the Central Texas CPA Firm of Sessions, Gentry and Selby. He was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro, the Hillsboro Rotary Club and was a Hillsboro ISD school board member from 1963 to 1974. Mary and Emmett loved to travel. They traveled across the USA often with their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers and two sisters. He leaves behind the love of his life, his best friend and wife of 63 years, Mary Glenn Gentry. Also left to cherish his memory are his children, Peggy Alspaugh and husband Robert of Carmel, California, Dr. David Gentry of Fort Worth, TX, Mark Gentry and wife Kim of Lago Vista, TX; grandchildren, Zachary, Cassie and Justin, Louis and Katy and great grandson, Sasha
