Enrique Ramirez

Enrique Ramirez, 34, of Joshua was called “home” to join his mother on Monday, December 17, 2018, in Mt. Pocono, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor John Abrego and Pastor Manuel Abrego officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, at the funeral home.

He was born October 14, 1984, in Miami, OK to Enrique and Maria Ramirez. He worked at FedEx, where he found a love for travel.

Rick or “Big Rick,” as everyone knew him, was a unique, funny, and loving person-always ready to lend a hand if needed. Perhaps that was the reason he was loved by many. Although he didn’t have any kids of his own, he loved spending time with his nephews and nieces-always proud of them all as if they were his own. He loved playing football with Christopher, joking and playing with Kimberly and Xavier, was always excited to watch Miguel play football, and let us not forget all the crazy things he and his oldest niece, Estrella, shared.

We can cry because he is gone or we can rejoice because he finally got what he wanted-to see his mom again. We can close our eyes and wish to see him walk through the door or we can open them and see all that he left for us-all the jokes and things he agreed with, with his nieces and nephews maybe because he himself was just a big kid at heart. We can empty our hearts because of our great loss or we can fill them with all the beautiful memories that in a very short time he infected us with. We can remember that he is gone or we can keep him in our hearts for ever and smile at the crazy things he did. We can cry, close our eyes, and be empty, or we can do what he would want for us to do-which is to lift our spirits up along with our hand and a shot of Buchanan and say “To my son, brother, and friend til we meet again.”

Enrique is survived by his father, Enrique; siblings, Patricia Ramirez, Cristina Ramirez, Maribel DeLuna, Silvano Flores, Eric Munoz, Leslie Mendoza, Lee Mendoza, and Esmeralda Avila; and by many friends, family members, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Olegario Botello and mother, Maria Ramirez.

“Big Rick” will be missed by all that knew and loved him, but one thing for sure is his smile, his jokes, and unique way of comforting will never be forgotten...Love you, little brother.
