Era Kennedy

Era Kennedy, 96, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Homestead Nursing & Rehab in Hillsboro. Era was born May 23, 1911 in Abbott, Texas, where she was raised, the daughter of John Seldon and Lena Bills Hoyle. In 1929 she graduated from Abbott High School. On October 19, 1929 she married Olin Garner Kennedy and he preceded her in death in December 1991. Before moving to Robert Lee, TX in 1978, she previously lived in Tulsa, OK, Santa Fe, NM, and Farmington, NM. In 1992 she returned to Hillsboro. She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro. Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, David Gerald Kennedy; daughter, Lenetta Gayle Hallmark; and grandson, Shannon Kennedy. Survivors include a son, Garner Hoyle Kennedy and wife, Judy, of Hillsboro; two grandsons, Richard and Sean; three granddaughters, Deborah, Karen, and Sharon; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Leslie, Jerod, Jennifer, Tera, and Robert; and three great-great grandchildren.
