Eric Dustin Evans passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, in Waco, Texas. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 31, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas.
Eric was born on May 23, 1986, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, Texas. He is the second child of Gary and Rebecca(Becky) Evans. His older brother, Christopher Keenum Evans, was a very jealous big brother but would always speak and get things for Eric by just knowing what he needed without Eric saying a word. Then, out of the blue, Christopher went to stay the night with his favorite aunt, Aunt “Hun,” and Eric started talking, shocking both Gary and Becky. Eric developed a skill of talking and really never shutting up.
He was a sickly child with severe asthma and acute confusion migraine headaches. A very loving and caring child, he shared a special bond with his mother due to his constant illnesses. At the age of four, Eric asked how he could become a comedian, like his idols, Robin Williams and Steve Martin. Not knowing what to say, Gary and Becky said he could start with dance lessons with Laurie McDonald-not that the two had anything to do with each other, but it seemed to work for a while. He has always been a comedian, a cut-up and the life of the party. Never a shy bone in his body, he craved attention, hugs and love. Eric was known for giving the best hugs. Loved by so many, he had the biggest, kindest, gentlest heart and was not afraid to show it to anyone, greeting everyone with a hug. Eric’s loss of his grandmother (Granny) sent him into a greater sense of depression, causing him to rely more and more on his addiction to the thing that took his life. He had a special attraction to those who were victims of bullying, taking it upon himself to put the bullies in their place. Eric treated everyone the same, no matter what race, color, size or disorders they had-that was the way he was raised. An artist and comedian, he was a complete nerd for Batman and LEGOs. Eric bought a car by trading three boxes of LEGOs for it.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Charley Dollar and Franklin (Jug) and Emily Evans, he is survived by his parents, Gary Evans and Becky Evans, both of Hillsboro; his brother, Christopher Keenum Evans; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Dollar of Arlington, Texas; his uncle and aunt, David and Candice Evans, of Lumberton, Texas, Susan and Cheyenne Fuchs, of Weatherford, Texas, Jennifer and Mark Stoecker of Mansfield, Texas; numerous cousins; and a ton of friends who he loved and considered family.
