Ernest Donald Cooper

On July 5, 2023, Ernest Donald Cooper, of Whitney, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas.

Ernest was born on May 29, 1938 in Whitney, Texas, Don was the only son of Ernest and Mildred Cooper. Don graduated from Whitney High School in 1957, where he enjoyed playing football and excelled in FFA. He married his late wife, Arva Nan Cooper, and they were blessed with two sons, Ricky and Chris. They initially moved to Dallas before settling in Cedar Hill, where they raised their family. After the passing of his first wife, Don met and married Patsy Ford Smith. They were married for 27 years, living on their farm in Whitney, Texas. Don enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially with his family. Some of his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and spending time on the farm.

Don is survived by his two sons, Ricky Cooper and wife Diane, Chris Cooper and wife Marsha; he was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Courtney, Joey, Laine, and Remington; 7 beautiful great-grandchildren; 4 step-children, as well as numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren. Don will be lovingly remembered by his devoted caretakers, Dana and Vickie, and his dear friend Virgil.
