Ernest Hugh Smith, 81, of Grandview, passed away on August 15, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 18, 2017, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Ernest was born on November 8, 1935, in Hill County, to Porter Hugh and Johnnie (Boiles) Smith. In 1953, he graduated from Whitney High School and then attended Navarro Junior College. He worked for Motion Picture Film Labs in Dallas and then as a multi-media technician for Lockheed-Martin in Fort Worth for 18 years before retiring in 2002.

On January 16, 1971, he married Nancy Meyer in Dallas. He has been a resident of Grandview for the past 25 years where he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He attended Grandview Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son, Eric Hugh Smith; and 5 siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Smith, of Grandview; a daughter, Denise Smith, of Fort Worth; grandson, Paxton Dean, of Fort Worth and a sister, Martha Bennett, of Grandview.
