Ervie Russell

Ervie J. Russell, 80, of Lake Aquilla passed away Friday October 6, 2017, at Homestead Nursing and Rehab in Itasca. No services will be scheduled.

Ervie was born March 14, 1937 in Sumner County, TN to Ervie and Betty (Denny) Russell. During his youth, he was a self taught mechanic and could just about fix anything. He had owned a motorcycle-lawn mower -tractor shop and loved racing cars and motorcycles in his youth. Ervie served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. Later he was united in marriage to Barbara Brooks on March 25, 2000 in Whitney, TX. His love of traveling the United Stated stemmed from his truck driving days and also as a driver for Greyhound. During his retirement years, he truly loved his homeland and took care of it all at Lake Aquilla. Ervie was a Christian and never met a stranger, and also was well liked by many friends in the Whitney Community. He will be missed by many.

Preceding him in death were his parents and four sisters.

Survivors included his wife, Barbara Russell; son, Don Stroud; step daughter, Bondi Cutrer; grandsons, Russ and Ryan Stroud; great grandchildren, Eli, Reagan, Nathan, and Ava Stroud; step granddaughter, Jada Mcwilliams; and best friend, Mike Snellgrove.

The Family would like to thank Homestead Nursing Home of Itasca and Providence Hospice for their loving and tender care of Mr. Russell for the last few months of his life.
