A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday August 29, 2021, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2021, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Fr. John Perikomalayil as celebrant. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Facial coverings are encouraged at the visitation and funeral service. Funeral services will be lived streamed on Marshall & Marshall’s Facebook page.
Esperanza was born on April 9, 1950, in Aldama, Chihuahua, MX, to Ramon Rodriquez Porras and Francisca Renteria Rodriguez. She was the oldest daughter of five children. She naturally took on the helper and caretaker role, which she did all her life. She helped take care of her siblings while her parents provided for the family. On April 16, 1964, she married the love of her life, Anselmo Hernandez Landeros. These two were inseparable in their 57 years of marriage. They demonstrated to everyone what marriage is and should be: Love, dedication, selflessness, and most of all laughter.
In 1978 Esperanza and the family came to live in the U.S., where they were given the opportunity to provide for their family. Pera was a talented seamstress and homemaker. Her five children, Anselmo Hernandez, Jr., Rosa Maria Hernandez, Irma Hernandez, Ramon Hernandez, and Manuel Hernandez meant the world to her. Then came along her 24 grandchildren and her 35 great grandchildren. She loved them so much. She made sure to hug and kiss everyone hello. She cooked for them and loved on them. Her grandkids could do no wrong.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Francisca Rodriguez; infant son, Ramon Hernandez; and infant daughter, Irma Hernandez.
She will always be remembered for her contagious smile, laughter, love, and love for singing. Even growing up, she sang in Mexico as a child to help the family. She was always proud to share that she had sung with the late Juan Gabriel at the famous Noah Noah night club. She may not be physically here, but all her love, her happiness, her contagious smiles, and her one-of-a-kind character will forever be in our hearts. She believed in God and knew one day she would be in a better place. Her beautiful singing voice will now be singing among the angels. She will be missed dearly. Always in our hearts but never forgotten.
