Ethel Holmes, 88, of Duncanville passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005, at The Laurenwood Nursing Home in Duncanville. Ethel was born October 30, 1916 in Wells, Cherokee County, Texas the daughter of Samuel Ara and Ethel Bernice Bell Goodwin. She lived in Hillsboro most of her life. In May 1937 she married Reagan Monroe ?Ray? Holmes in Anson, Texas and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1995. In 1997 she moved to Temple and to Duncanville in 2002. In the late 1960's, she worked at Hill College as a cook. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Edward Reagan Holmes; daughter, Elvonia Pederson; three sisters, Lola Douglas, Joyce Eschberger, Laura Bell Nichols; and a brother, Charles. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Ewing and husband, Larry, of Duncanville; five grandchildren, Brenda Tobar of Oklahoma City, OK, Paula Jupe and husband, David, of Leroy, Lori Harrell and husband, Glen, of Keller, Yolanda Boaz and husband, Tom, of Belton, and Larry Wayne Ewing of Duncanville; seven great-grandchildren, Alecia Tobar of Killeen, Jennifer Jupe of Leroy, Tessa Tobar Nolanville, Taylor Harrell of Keller, Wayne Ray Draper of Belton, Andrew Draper of Belton, and Shelby Harrell of Keller; a sister, Mary Nell Boatman of Channelview; a son-in-law, Pete Pederson of Belton; and a daughter-in-law, Pauline Holmes of Nolanville.
