Eula Ilene "Poodle" Neil

Eula Ilene Gibson Neil, born January 3, 1912, known by friends and family as “Poodle” since early childhood, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 29, 2012. At the time of her death she was a resident of Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Friday, March 2, 2012, at Brandon Cemetery near Brandon with Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday prior to the graveside at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born in Benjamin, TX, but a resident of the Brandon community of Hill County, TX since early childhood, Poodle was the last surviving child of James Elbert and Emma Matthews Gibson. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; brother, John Gibson; and four sisters, Eva Crowe, Lurene Williams, Grace Lavender, and Magdalene Wimberly.

Poodle married Marshall W. Neil on September 26, 1933. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1992. They spent their entire married life, 58 plus years, in the Brandon community, Marshall as a farmer and Poodle as a homemaker. For many years she was active in the Home Demonstration Club of Hill County along with many Brandon community activities as well as a faithful member of the Brandon Methodist Church until it’s closing. After moving to Hillsboro in 1994, she became a member of Central Baptist Church of Hillsboro.

Survivors include a son, Lanny Neil and wife, Barbara, of Hillsboro; grandson, Tim Neil and wife, Allison, of Austin; granddaughter, Kristi Hosterman and husband, Brian, of Laguna Park; 2 great-grandchildren, Shelby and Brandon Sifford; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
