Evelyn Carver, 94, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Hickey Cemetery near Hillsboro. Ms. Carver will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born July 5, 1921 in Amarillo, Evelyn was the daughter of David Crockett and Lena Maude (Truitt) Carver. Growing up, she lived all over Texas and New Mexico. For 25 years, she worked in the Education Department of the Southwestern Union Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burleson and also worked for the Ohio Conference. Evelyn also was employed as a secretary in her family’s commercial water heater manufacturing business. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burleson.

When Evelyn was not out traveling, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and being with her family. She was a very talented seamstress and among other items, made the drapes for her house. You could always find Evelyn in her kitchen cooking. She especially loved making desserts and would taste test them to make sure they turned out just right.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Robert Carver.

Survivors include her brother, Douglas L. Carver of Keene; five nieces and nephews, Beverly Hamilton and husband, Bobby, Diane Johnson and husband, Skip, Dennis Carver and wife, Susie, David Carver and wife, Rene, and Danny Carver; several great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces.
