Evelyn Margret "Peggy" (Crouch) Meador

Evelyn “Peggy” Meador, age 89, of Hillsboro passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in Waco. Private family graveside services will be held. Mrs. Meador will lie in state on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Face masks and social distancing are required.

Peggy was born on March 8, 1931, in Shelby, Montana to Charles Edward and Frances Leon (Putt) Crouch. She grew up in Elmo, Montana, attended school in Polson, Montana, and graduated from Polson High School in 1949. After graduating from high school, she attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Spokane, Washington. That’s where she met her future husband Rois “Tex” Meador, who was stationed there with the United States Air Force. They were united in marriage three months later on June 8, 1952.

Peggy’s nursing career began in 1956 at the Hillsboro Clinic. She also served as the Director of Nursing at the Lake Whitney Hospital and taught LVN nursing students in Hillsboro and Whitney. After leaving Whitney, she returned to the Hillsboro Clinic and eventually went to work for Grant and Buie, when the two merged, as an ER supervisor. After Peggy retired, she taught LVN nursing students at Hill College and worked for Total Home Health and Hospice. Peggy loved her family unconditionally, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite past times was enjoying her flowers and working in her flower beds.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Rois “Tex” Meador, Jr. on August 28, 2008; grandson, Bryan Brown; granddaughter, Christina Rankin; son in law, Doyle Rankin; great grandson, Caleb Meador.

Peggy is survived by her children, Laurie Rankin, Francie Ruth and spouse, Marlane, Chuck Meador and wife, Dee De, and Kenny Meador and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Billy Brown and wife, Laurie, granddaughter-in-law, Vikki Brown, Shannon Ruth and wife, Jamie, Charlie Meador and wife, Joni, James Meador and wife, Shelby, Lachelle Meador, Jeph Merritt and Marissa Murray and husband, Scott; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Christopher, Brandan, Mackenzie, Keri, Justin, Seth, Paige, Abby, Jaimee, Jimmy, Sullivan, Katie, Madison, Kai, Kaison, Barrett, Waylon, and Krissi; brother, James Crouch and wife, Pat; sister, Myrtle Ann Stinger; sister-in-law, Loretta Waller; brother-in-law, Robert Meador and wife, Jan;  and numerous nieces and nephews.
