Faye Gant, 98, of Blum, passed away on February 19, 2020, in a Grandview nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney, with Rev. Ken Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Bend~Coon Creek Cemetery in Bosque County. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home.
Faye was born on December 28, 1921 in Hill County to Barney and Sybl (Horn) Hill. She grew up in Prairie Valley and attended school there. On June 29, 1940, she married J.C. “Dutch” Gant. She was a good housewife, taking care of her husband and children while working alongside her husband on the farm. Family was very important to Faye and she loved spending time with them.
An avid quilter and knitter, she also loved to garden and tend to her flowers in addition to being an excellent cook.
She was a lifelong member of Blum Eastern Star and was also past worthy matron of the Blum chapter #931. Faye was also a member of First Baptist Church of Blum.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, J.C. “Dutch” Gant on February 28, 1977; and one brother, Jim Hill.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Gant and wife, Gloria of Blum, Joan Wright of Ft. Worth, Charles Gant and wife, Helen of Stephenville, Leland Gant and wife Cindy of Whitney, Paula French and husband, Charley of Blum; grandchildren, Angie Patton, Steve Gant and wife, Deanna, Jason Gant and wife, Alison, Mary Gant, Brad Gant and wife, Lacey, Joey Hall and wife, Elizabeth, Matt Montgomery and wife Ashley, Mindy McLauren, Melanie Moore and husband, Derek; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; brothers, W.K. “Kinch” Hill and wife, Nadine and D.L. “Dob” Hill and wife, Fern, all of Aquilla; a sister, Tress Blassingame of Clifton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
