Flores Padgett, age 94, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 in Waco. A funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Edward Sumrall officiating. Burial with military honors to follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Flores, better known as “Flo”, was born June 15, 1924 in Irene, Hill County, Texas the son of James W. Padgett and Katie Bell Flores Padgett. They preceded him in death along with two of his brothers James F. Padgett and Truell R. Padgett. When Flores was a child his family moved to Waco. He attended East Waco Elementary, South Waco Junior High and Waco High School.
Flores entered military service in 1943. He spent two years, one month and five days in Europe, mostly in the 90th Infantry Division. He was wounded during the last weeks of the war and received a Purple Heart. After the war Flores went to work for Texas Power and Light where he spent 41 years as a Field Foreman. Flores was a member of Hillsboro Lodge #196 A. F. & A. M. and was a Shriner.
Flores married Miss Wilma Reed on December 29, 1968. After a short time living in Dallas, they moved to Hill County near Bynum. Wilma preceded him in death on May 26, 1990.
Flores is survived by his brothers, Awood Padgett of Waco and Duane Padgett and wife, Carolyn of Temple; also numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and many friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Providence Hospice Place at St. Catherine Center, 300 W. State Hwy. 6, Waco, Texas 76712.
