Floyd Lee Aven, 87 of Whitney passed away on December 28, 2017 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney, officiating will be Chaplain Larry Schneider of Mission Hospice.
Floyd was born on February 20, 1930 in Lohn, Texas to the late Aza and Ethel J. (Peel) Aven. He graduated from Lohn High School in 1947, joining the United States Navy that same year he served his country for four years until 1951. On May 29, 1968 he married Shirley Pletcher in Tombstone, Arizona. In September of 2017 he enjoyed celebrating his 70th class reunion in Brady, Texas. Floyd being semi-retired from his business Eagle Enterprises which he started in 1989, enjoyed fishing, yard work and playing 8 liners. He was a life long member of the American Legion post # 522 and was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by his son, Roy Lee Aven and daughter, Cathy Lee Aven.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Aven; daughters, Darlene Aven, Brenda Aven, Carla Aven. Michelle Hensser and husband, Rick and Laura Wood; grandchildren, Sara Aven. Teresa Aven, Phillip Mercer, Patrick Mercer, Sheila Mercer and 6 great-grandchildren.
