Floyd Heard

Floyd Edwin Heard, 92, of Boerne passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio after a short battle with pneumonia. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. He will be laid to rest next to his wife. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro prior to service time.

Floyd Edwin Heard was born February 4, 1926, in Santa Rita, New Mexico the son of Jewel and Lewis Leon Heard. Floyd grew up in Vicksburg, MS and joined the Army Air Corps in 1944 at age 17. After completing his service, he used the GI Bill to earn degrees in Geology and Physics from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. Floyd had a long career as an independent geologist in Midland. He was married to Betty Jo Wilbourn for 42 years, a faithful and loving husband until her death in 1997. Floyd served as a Gideon for the Midland Chapter of Gideons International as well as being a member of the Midland Downtown Lions Club. A faithful member of First Baptist Church Midland, he sang in the choir and taught children about Jesus. Since 2011, he lived in Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs of Boerne and faithfully attended First Baptist Church Boerne.

Survivors include his son, John Heard of Ruidoso, NM; daughters, Nancy Heard of Dallas and Holly Morgan of Canyon Lake; son-in-law, Steve Morgan of Canyon Lake; three grandchildren, Matthew Morgan, Michael Morgan and Mason Morgan, all of Canyon Lake; his 94 year old brother, Billy Lee Heard of Shreveport, LA; and nieces, Denise Heard Lorant of Shreveport, LA, Terri Heard of Shreveport, LA, and Cindy Heard of Sarasota, FL.
