Frances Acuna


Frances was born January 18, 1939 in Sweetwater, Texas to Domingo and Josefa Gomez Torrez. She grew up in Sweetwater. In 1955 she married Raymond Acuna and they moved to Grand Prairie. They also lived in Chicago and California. In 1990 she moved to Hillsboro. She enjoyed her work as a seamstress and made beautiful quilts. She was a tireless caregiver making sure her family and friends were cared for and well fed. Frances will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were a son, David Eric Acuna in 1989; husband, Raymond Acuna in 1984; her parents; and two brothers, Manuel Torrez and Juan Torrez. Survivors include three children, Gilbert Ray Acuna and wife, Debra, of Ringling, OK, Christina Acuna of Hillsboro, and Tommy Joe Acuna of California; three brothers, Marcos Torrez and wife, Rita, of Cleburne, Edward Torrez and wife, Andrea, of Cleburne, Henry Torrez of Fort Worth; two sisters, Maria Gaona of Sweetwater and Toni T. Palafox and husband, Martin, Hillsboro; eleven grandchildren, Crystal Acuna of Ringling, OK, Tricia Acuna of Ringling, OK, Richard Acuna of Ringling, OK, Jem Acuna of Ringling, OK, David Eric Acuna, Jr. of Santa Maria, CA, Michelle Irene Acuna of Santa Maria, CA, Angelina Acuna of Nacogdoches, Alicia Acuna of Nacogdoches, Nicholas Ray Ramirez and wife, Megan, of Hillsboro, Carlos Daniel Ramirez of Hillsboro, and Brandy Danielle Ramirez of Hillsboro; one great-grandson, Bryson Ramirez; and many nieces and nephews.
