Frances Barnes, 82, of Cedar Park, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Cottonwood Creek Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Glen MacDonald of Hillsboro Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the funeral home.
Frances was born March 11, 1933 in Aquilla to Joe and Maudie (Minnix) Noel. She grew up in Aquilla, graduated from Aquilla High School, and went on to receive her teaching degree from North Texas State University. For 32 years, she taught at Hillsboro ISD. In 1962, Frances was united in marriage to Billy Jack Barnes and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2007.
She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro. Sociably active in her church and community, Frances was a caretaker for the elderly in the nursing homes. In her spare time, she enjoyed going for walks and watching her TV shows, especially football.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include her son, Jack Barnes and wife, Tammy, of Cedar Park; grandson, Travis Austin Barnes; and granddaughter, Alyssa Renee Barnes.
