Frances Dollar

Frances Dollar passed from this life on Monday, March 28, 2016, in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Bill Dollar officiating. Entombment will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to service time.

Frances was born to Ada and Dudley Kirkpatrick on October 9, 1929 in Itasca. She graduated from Itasca High School. During her school years she met Bobby Dollar, who hailed from nearby Hillsboro. The ensuing courtship was the beginning of a lifelong love affair. They married when she was 18--he only 17. Their union celebrated over 60 years of married devotion.

Frances began her working career as a telephone operator in Hillsboro. In those days, when a customer picked up the telephone receiver, a real-life operator answered with “Number please?”. Though eavesdropping was strictly forbidden by company policy, telephone operators of that era were definitely in the know! Continuing her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, Frances moved from Hillsboro to Fort Worth, Nashville, TN, and back to Fort Worth. She retired as a Manager in 1983, with 31 years of service. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Hubbard.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Bob, who died in 2010.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Dollar and wife, Shirley, of Arlington; nieces, Rebecca Evans of Hillsboro, Susan Fuchs and husband, Cheyenne, of Brock, and Jennifer Stoecker and husband, Mark, of Mansfield. She has four great-nephews; one great-niece; multiple cousins; and many loving members of the extended Dollar family.
