Frances Holder

On the evening of January 26, 2016, at 9:43 PM, Frances Upchurch Holder, 79, of Hillsboro passed away peacefully of natural causes. Frances was being visited and comforted by family members at the Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro at the time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at the funeral home.

Frances Upchurch Holder was born in the town of Waxahachie in Ellis County on April 16, 1936. She was the second of six children born to Ralph and Lettie (Simmer) Collins. Frances worked as a nurse’s aid for many years in the towns of Itasca, Grandview, and Cleburne. She was baptized and a member of Loveview Baptist Church in Itasca. She was a very caring and giving person who took in her children’s friends as her own and made sure everyone’s stomach was full. Frances enjoyed playing dominos and enjoyed winning even more. She loved spending her down time reading or watching her favorite TV shows.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Collins; her mother, Lettie Collins; a sister, Nell Pribble; and husbands, James Russell Upchurch and Lavelle Holder.

Frances is survived by her sisters, Margaret Hutson, Betty Porter, June Cathey, and Evelyn Kelly; her brother, R. W. Collins; her four children, Janie Perkins, Linda Allison, Jimmie Upchurch, and Homer Upchurch; and eight grandchildren.
