Francis Alvin "Frank" Fossett, 87, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday morning, April 7, 2016, at Homestead Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Jo Ramsey of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the funeral home.
Frank was born May 17, 1928 in Clifton, where is was raised, to George and Ida (Otterson) Fossett. On July 18, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ina Mary Hayes and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2002. After working for the Hill County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy from 1955-1965, Frank became the tax collector for Hillsboro ISD for more than 25 years. He retired from that position in 1990. In the 1960's, he began to enjoy farming, ranching, and raising cattle as a part-time hobby. Frank was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro and served his country in the National Guard.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Rebecca Sue Fossett; three brothers, George, Marvin, and Calvin Fossett; and grandson, Chandler Fossett.
Survivors include his two sons, Steven Wayne Fossett of Hillsboro and Robert Elling Fossett and wife, Sandra, of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
