Frank Burt

Frank E. Burt, 90, of Blanton passed away January 4, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, with burial in the Itasca Cemetery.  Dave Klein and Becky Hale-Encizo will officiate.

Frank was born January 8, 1932, in Osceola to Wyatt A. and Jeffie Cowan Burt.  He graduated from Grandview High School and was a Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War.

Frank was a Christian and made it a priority to be active in the Baptist churches of the various cities in which he lived.  He and Nelda Dennis were married on May 30, 1954. He loved her for more than the sixty-four years they were married.

For twenty-eight years, Frank was employed by Armored Motor Service and then Purolator Armored. In 1984 Frank was able to make his dream of owning a cattle ranch a reality by moving to Blanton. He loved his farm and never wanted to leave.  He would often be seen driving around with his faithful dog Barney beside him.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, his wife Nelda, brother Rowland Burt, and two beloved aunts, Nula Cowan and Mary Cowan.

Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Ward of Carrollton, Texas; sons Keith Burt and his wife Stephanie of Silverthorne, Colorado, John Burt and Becky Hale Encizo of Buena Vista, Colorado; grandson Lucas Ward and his wife, Kelly of Lakewood, Colorado; granddaughter Breanne Ward of Carrollton, Texas; great-grandsons, Lincoln and Bennett Ward of Lakewood, Colorado; sister Mary Sue Kendall of Covington, Texas; brother Jeff Burt of Itasca, Texas; sister-in-law Mildred Burt of Itasca, Texas; two half-sisters, Jane McVaugh and Dettye Broughton; his dog, Barney of Buena Vista, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews
