Frank Watling

Frank C. Watling passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital, Waco, TX. Frank recently moved to the Whitney, TX, area with his wife, Louise, following Hurricane Rita which uprooted them from their home of 30 years in Santa Fe, TX. Frank was born February 7, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Sudbury High School, Sudbury, MA, June 1953. In 1954 he entered the Navy and served five years. He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served 25 years retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. Frank served in Korea and Viet Nam and received numerous awards and citations. After retirement, he worked for the State of Texas as a safety inspector for the Galveston Ferry System for twelve years. Frank is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Hazel Watling. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louise Leonard Watling; son, Charles Watling and his wife Daphne of Santa Fe, TX, and their two children Chelsea and Cody; son, Jeffery Watling and his wife Linda of Barre, MA, and their two children Allan and Thomas; and son Karl Watling of Houston, TX. He is also survived by a great number of relatives and friends. Frank was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed camping--both primitive and in his RV with his wife Louise. He especially enjoyed camping with his family, friends and military comrades. Frank will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. The family especially thanks Hillcrest Baptist Hospital and the care-providers of Hospice.
