Frankie Rose

Frankie Rose of Whitney passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the age of 85.  A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney with Pastor Gerald Dudley officiating.  Burial will follow at Heath Cemetery in Huron.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

She was born in Brandon, Texas on March 20, 1934, to Miles and Alta (Higgins) Murphy.  On September 15, 1956, Frankie was united in marriage to Warnell Rose.  They made their home in Whitney, where they raised four children.  She worked in the meat market at Bush’s Grocery, where she enjoyed talking and laughing with the members of the community.  Her retirement was spent working for Whitney ISD, where she enjoyed serving the students and staff.  Frankie was lovingly known as “The Tea Lady.”

Her feisty sense of humor could sometimes be described as ornery.  She was quick witted and loved to joke and tease with everyone.  You knew how much she liked you by how hard she teased you.  She never met a stranger and loved striking up a conversation with anyone anywhere.  Her door was always open and everyone was welcome at her table.

Frankie was an excellent softball player in her youth and coached several youth softball teams as an adult.  She was an avid Texas Rangers fan and everyone around her was too, if they knew what was good for them.  She kept stats on the team for many years and was recognized during a game on national television for being such a huge supporter of the team.

She was always busy with and enjoyed doing many different crafts.  Frankie loved working in her yard.  She could mow the straightest lines in Whitney.  However, her greatest joy in life was being with her grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Miles and Alta Murphy; husband, Warnell Rose; siblings, Ivy Brockett, Earl Murphy, Ruth Aston, MH Murphy, LD Murphy, Floyd Murphy, Gilbert Murphy, Geneva Shaw, and Ralph Murphy; sons-in-law, Donnie Parker and Todd Ryan; and grandson, Justin Money.

Frankie is survived by her children, Debbie Money and husband, Doug, Pam Parker, Tommy Rose and wife, Kim, and Jennifer Ryan; grandchildren, Ashley Becknauld and husband, Sean, Reanna VanDyke and husband, Charles; and Kaylee Parker; and great-grandchildren, Clara, Ella, and Cole Becknauld, and Paisley and Charlotte VanDyke.
