Franklin Roosevelt Harrell, 81, of Whitney passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Whitney. The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Vaughan Baptist Church in Vaughan with Rev. Wade Yarbro officiating.
Franklin was born on November 20, 1935, in Franklin, TN to Harvey and Ada Jane (Hoover) Harrell. On March 15, 1963, he married Lois Smithee.
He served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1953. He was a carpenter by trade. After he became too disabled to work, Franklin volunteered his time by serving as a service office for the VA and as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America in Itasca. He was a past member of the Lions Club of Itasca. An avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan, he also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Harrell; son, Donnie Harrell; daughter, Debra Kempke; and seven siblings.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Bartley and husband, David, of Whitney; son, Billy Harrell, of Odessa; brothers, George Harrell of Sherman and Bobby Harrell of Peoria; sisters, Peggy Noe and husband, Don, of Huntington Beach, CA and Martha "Ann" Wooten and husband, Rick, of Michigan; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
