Fred O. Redd, 72, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Chaplain LeAnne S. Ryan officiating.
Fred was born March 30, 1942 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois to Phillip and Ruth (Jones) Redd. On April 27, 1963, he married Janet Fischer in Lombard, Illinois. For 13 years, he worked for Electronicast in Addison, Illinois. In 1973, the couple moved to Texas and Fred went to work for Consolidated Casting in Dallas. He started working for Cercon in Hillsboro in 1980 and later went to work in 1993 for Pure Cast in Austin until his retirement in 2010. An avid classic car enthusiast, some of his favorite pastimes included golfing, fishing, gardening, playing with his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife. He was a Protestant.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Helen Schmeckebier and Leighla Richter; and daughter-in-law, Sally Redd.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Redd of Hillsboro; three children, Thomas Redd of Watauga, Jeffrey Redd and wife, Christi, of Murphy, and Kathie Dale and husband, Frank, of North Richland Hills; 8 grandchildren, Olivia Curnutt and husband, David, of Haltom City, Ryan, Molly, and Allison Redd of Watauga, Jenni and Blake Redd of Murphy, and Grace and Finley Dale of North Richland Hills; 3 great-grandchildren, Peyton and Carter Curnutt of Haltom City and Mikayla Rodriguez of Watauga; brother-in-law, Jack Schmeckebier of Columbus, Indiana; 3 nieces; and two nephews.
